DescriptionThis issue of the Partners for Africa (www.partners4africa.org) newsletter published together with Renewable Energy for Development (RED), (www.sei.se/climate/newsletter.htm) is dedicated to a policy debate on Global Biofuels Development. The debate was prompted by the substantial interest and feedback that resulted from an article by a leading UK environmentalist, George Monbiot entitled: 'Fuel for nought: the adoption of biofuels would be a humanitarian and environmental disaster'.

The newsletter includes the original article by George Monbiot as well as six responses by prominent experts in biofuels.
